The project includes the completion of the new double railway line, approximately 28.8 km long, in the section from Rododaphni Railway Station (R.S.) to the cover & cut, after the new Rio Railway Stop, at the Athens-Patras line, namely the construction of the superstructure, the installation of electrification, signaling, telecommanding systems, E/M facilities in Panagopoula tunnel, the construction of Railway Stations and Stops, and planting works.
Specifically, the following will be implemented/installed:
- Superstructure works all along the new railway line (slab track inside Panagopoula tunnel and ballast track all along the remaining section)
- Seven (7) railway stations/stops (platforms, buildings, E/M) at the locations of Rododapnhi, Selianitika, Kamares, Psathopyrgos, Arahovitika, Agios Vassilios and Rio
- E/M installations in Panagopoula tunnel and buildings serving the E/M installations in the tunnel and their surrounding areas
- Electrification with Overhead Contact System, with telecommanding and connection with Aigio tractions power substation
- Telecommunication systems
- Two-way signaling system with telecommanding
- Track-side train protection system ETCS Level1 as well as its approval by the European Union for Agency Railways (ERA)
- Sound barriers in specific sections for the protection of adjacent inhabited areas
- Planting works for the anti-corrosion protection of the slopes and environmental restoration, as well as safety measures along the line
- Relocation and restoration of Public Utilities Networks that will be affected by the construction
- Archaeological works and researches

Estimated budget: 125,76 mil. € (excl. VAT), funded by:
- Operational Program “Transport Infrastructures, Environment & Sustainable Development” (OP ΥΜΕPΕRΑΑ) 2014-2020; Phase A’ of the Project until 31.12.2023.
Estimated budget: 43,82 mil. €
- Phase B’ of the Project under a Program included in the Programming Period 2021-2027.
