Signing of the contract for the installation of the electrification system on the new double railway line Kiato – Rhododafni
Athens 6 July 2022 – ERGOSE’s planning for the completion of key infrastructures that upgrade the country’s railway network is progressing at a steady pace and according to schedule. The electrification project on the new high-speed railway line connecting Kiato with Rhododafni is on track for implementation.
In particular, today the contract for the project concerning the installation of electrification and anti-noise barriers on the new double railway line Kiato – Rododafni was signed.
The contractor of the project is the consortium TERNA S.A. – Mytilineos S.A. The cost of the project amounts to €84 million (including VAT) and will be implemented over a 30-month period.
The new double railway line is 70.6 kilometres long and with electrification, trains will be able to reach speeds of up to 200 km/h. At the same time, it includes telecommunication systems for passenger information, announcement system, emergency calls and intercom, closed circuit television, planting, installation of anti-noise barriers at localised points.
The project has been co-funded by the European Union, through the NSRF 2014-2020, under the Operational Program “Transport Infrastructure, Environment and Sustainable Development” (OP-Transport Infrastructure, Environment and Sustainable Development).
In summary, the scope of the project concerns:
- Construction of an electrification system and an overhead contact line system with remote control (SCADA) from the traffic control centre.
- Planting of the areas near the substations in accordance with the environmental conditions.
- Installation of anti-noise barriers and noise measurement station system required under the environmental conditions of the project and the applicable Greek and European legislation.
- Installation of passive data and signal transmission network for railway systems.
- Installation of Passenger Information System.
- Installation of Announcement System, Emergency Calls and Intercommunication.
- Installation of Closed Circuit Television System in the Railway Tunnels of the Kiato – Rododafni line section.
- Installation of signage for stops and stations.
