
The project involves the construction of the new single railway line which will connect the freight port at N. Karvali (Filippos port) with the existing railway network at Toxotes (Xanthi area).
The line is part of the Global Project “Construction of the new railway line Thessaloniki – Amfipoli – Kavala – Xanthi, which was included in the Core Railway Network in the framework of the in force guidelines of the European policy for the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) 2014-2020.
More specifically the project include the:
- construction of 31,8 km new single railway line from Nea Karvali to Toxotes and 5,3 km new single railway line from Nea Karvali railway stop to Kavala Freight Port,
- construction of 5 rail stops/stations:
- Passenger stop in Nea Karvali and
- Passenger station in Perni-Gravuna,
- 2 stations for freight transport (terminal station at Kavala Freight Port and shunting yard on the connection line Nea Karvali – Kavala Freight Port and
- Service Station for OSE in Toxotes area
