Participation of the President and CEO of ERGOSE Mr.Christos Vinis in the Forum of the Hellenic-French Chamber of Commerce and Industry on “Sustainable Transport Infrastructure”
Athens, 16 December 2021 – The legislative initiatives that accelerate the implementation of ERGOSE projects
The developmental character and the significant benefits of the six flagship projects tendered through Competitive Dialogue were highlighted by the President and CEO of ERGOSE Mr. Christos Vinis from the podium of the Forum organized today 15.12.2021 by the Hellenic-French Chamber of Commerce and Industry on “Sustainable Transport Infrastructure”.
“The projects that ERGOSE designs and implements give a developmental impetus to the country. The company’s strategic planning has one main objective: the emergence of Greece as a regional hub in the logistics sector in the wider region. The basic prerequisite for this is the existence of a modern and integrated railway network with guaranteed interoperability and intermodality. This means that ERGOSE’s projects upgrade our country’s railway interconnection with south-eastern Europe, and connect the main ports with the railway network“, the President and CEO of ERGOSE said.
Mr.Vinis pointed out the added value for local communities and the national economy created by these projects, with a budget of €4 billion, which radically change the landscape of passenger and freight transport in our country. At the same time, he described the work carried out over the past two years and the actions taken by ERGOSE to speed up the tendering process, using the Competitive Dialogue method.
The President and CEO of ERGOSE, also referred to the recent legislative interventions that ensure the timely implementation of railway projects regarding compulsory expropriations and the issuance of building permits. Under the previous legislative framework, for the declaration of compulsory expropriation, a period of up to 7 years was required, while now with the interventions introduced, 1 year is required for the issuance of the decision. Similarly, up to 11 years were required to issue building permits, whereas now only 2 months are needed.
In his speech, Mr.Vinis spoke about the 7 projects, with a budget of €513.5 million, which were put out to tender through competitive tenders and mainly concern the extension of electrification in the railway network, significantly improving the environmental footprint of transport and the quality of the service provided.
Finally, the timely and smooth implementation of all ERGOSE’s work is also ensured by the introduction of the innovative Building Information Modelling (BIM) application in the projects already tendered over the last two years and in the six projects tendered through Competitive Dialogue.
