Restoration works on the section of the suburban line Airport – SKA completed earlier than originally planned

Earlier than planned, works were completed on the section between Three Bridges and Acharnon Railway Centre (SKA), resulting in the restoration of the direct connection of the Suburban Railway from Piraeus and Athens to the airport, as well as the connection of Liosia with the airport on 14-12-21 instead of 16-12-21.
The work involved restoring damage caused by an earlier derailment of an OSE train in a complex of track devices, at point 0+000 of the SKA – Airport suburban line.
The works were required through the Arbitration Court decision No. 23/2020 in the context of the Final Acceptance of the contract for the project entitled: “Construction of infrastructure works for a quadruple railway corridor on the section between Three Bridges and the Acharnon Railway Centre (SKA), infrastructure works for the completion of the SKA and all the necessary superstructure, signalling – telecommand, electrification and railway stations works for the full operation of the railway lines on the section Three Bridges – SKA – New Athens Airport in Spata”.
By order of ERGOSE, the contractor consortium of the PROASTAIC RAILWAY “J&P AVAX S.A. – E.T.E.TH.A.E. – ALSTOM Transport S.A.”, started the necessary rehabilitation works on 29-11-2021.
The interruption of traffic at this point, resulting in reasonable inconvenience to the travelling public, was limited to the absolutely necessary period of 15 days. The point was opened to traffic after the work was completed and after the necessary and successful tests for the correct operation of the changing devices.
