Briefing to the Parliament on the critical railway projects Rhododafni – Rio and Paleofarsalos – Kalambaka
Thessaloniki, November 2, 2022.- The Standing Committee on Production and Trade of the Hellenic Parliament was informed yesterday by the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, responsible for infrastructure, Mr. George Karagiannis and the President and CEO of ERGOSE, Mr. Christos Vinis, about the pre-contractual procedure of two major projects with ERGOSE as the contracting authority. Specifically, the briefing concerned the project of construction of stations and stops and installation of electrification system on the section Rododafni – Rio and the project of installation of electrification system on the railway line Paleofarsalos – Kalambaka with construction of a new branch line at S.S. Sofades.
The contractor of the project for the construction of railway stations and stops, superstructure and installation of electrification and signaling system in the section Rhododafni – Rio on the new line Kiato – Patras, was awarded to the association of economic operators under the name of “UNION OF ECONOMIC PARTIES TERNA S.A. – MYTILINEOS S.A.” with a total offer of 129.533.055,57€ (excluding VAT). The project will be completed within a three-year horizon and a total duration of mandatory maintenance (guarantee) for (36) months is foreseen.
Planning includes the construction of 28.8 km of double railway superstructure, the construction of 3 railway stations and 4 stops, the construction of electromechanical installations within the Panagopoula tunnel and the installation of an electrification and signaling system with remote control.
In the second project with the installation of the electrification system in the existing single railway line Paleofarsalos – Kalambaka and the construction of a new branch line at the Railway Station of Sofades, the contractor was the economic operator AVAX S.A. with a total offer of 52.201.427,17€ (excluding VAT). The project will be completed within a three-year horizon and a total duration of mandatory maintenance (warranty) for (36) months is foreseen.
It is planned to install an electrification and signaling system with remote control, the construction of the necessary telecommunications systems, the construction of infrastructure and superstructure in the area of Sofades, where a 650 m long branch line will be built.
The two projects are funded by the Operational Programme “Transport Infrastructure, Environment and Sustainable Development 2014-2020”.
The President and CEO of ERGOSE, Mr Christos Vinis, said, “We are proceeding with speed in the implementation of the strategic plan for the implementation of the projects, in order to meet the timeframe we have set for the upgrading and modernization of the country’s railway network.”
