Participation of the President and CEO of ERGOSE Mr. Christos Vinis at the 5th Infrastructure – Transport Conference ITC 2022
The second phase of the six tenders for the largest railway project in the country’s history starts immediately
Athens, 31 May – Within the next 15 days, the second phase of the six tenders for the largest railway program in the country’s history worth €4 billion will begin, as announced by the company’s Chairman and CEO Christos Vinis from the podium of the ITC 2022 Infrastructure – Transport Conference.
Specifically, Mr.Vinis referred to the immediate start of the dialogue with the participants for the six key projects tendered by ERGOSE through the Competitive Dialogue procedure, while he announced that during the summer the tendering procedures of the seven consultants will begin, which will enhance the implementation capacity of the projects.
“The strict adherence to the timetable set by ERGOSE does not only concern the projects of the Competitive Dialogue”, stressed Mr.Vinis, “but the overall upgrade of the country’s railway network, the planning for the implementation of which has already been completed.”
“Our strategy was based on three main pillars:
Solving the problems we identified in the existing works and design contracts.
The immediate promotion of the tendering process for competitive tenders.
The preparation of a bold and unprecedented, given the standards of the Greek railways, tender programme with Competitive Dialogue for the connection of the country’s key ports.
In fact, this time last year at the same conference, we committed to all of this and this year we are able to say that it has all been implemented.”
The President and CEO of ERGOSE also referred to the acceleration of the procedures for the completion of critical infrastructures that upgrade the country’s railway network with the tender of seven projects, with a total budget of €515.3 million. At the same time, the ground is being prepared for new project tenders in the summer, with a budget of €55 million.
“We have unblocked administrative acts that have been frozen for a very long time, resulting in the restart of ongoing contracts. This is reflected in the absorption of Community funds for the implementation of projects. We have a positive growth rate for the first time since 2016, which in fact is expected to increase even more by the end of 2022.”
Mr.Vinis also referred to the overall effort to complete the projects related to the installation of special railway systems on the Athens – Thessaloniki – Prοmachonas railway line, aiming to reduce the Athens – Thessaloniki route to 3 hours and 15 minutes.
