The project includes the installation of the signaling with ETCS and electrification systems, on the PALEOFARSALOS – KALAMBAKA existing single railway line.
Specifically, the following will be implemented:
- Signaling – tele-commanding electronic type system with remote control from Larisa’s KEK for the signaling security of the line trackside, ETCS L1 (level 1) as well as its approval by the European Union Agency for Railways (ERA). Setting of needle rolling system to the turnovers, for better serving the signaling system.
- Electrification system with Overhead Contact line, the construction of the traction power substation at the Vasiliki area near Trikala, the signaling – tele-commanding control system of the electrification (SCADA) and the adaptation of the new electrification system with the existing neighboring facilities.
- The connection of the traction power substation at the Vasiliki area to the Hellenic Distribution Network transmission line.
- The necessary telecommunication systems
- New additional (overpass) line in the Sofades R.S. infrastructure and superstructure (ballast).
- Platform in the area of Sofades for the passengers, 150m long, with lighting and two lifts on the existing pedestrian crossing.
- Renovation and small-scale restoration works in areas of the existing buildings of the R.S. Sofades, Karditsa, Trikala and Kalambaka, where the necessary signaling and electrification equipment will be installed.
- Installation of electric heat at the turnovers of the R.S. Paleofarsalos.
- Replacement of 38 existing automatic level railway crossings and installation of an additional one.
- Completion of the fencing of the railway line.
